MEET THE TEAM
Nicole Carter, M.S., CCC-SLP received her Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona, and her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Texas Woman’s University.
While attending graduate school, Nicole obtained clinical experience working with children and adults in a variety of settings including public schools, private practice, and skilled nursing facilities. Additionally, she served as Secretary for the department’s Class Council, was a member of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA), participated in Interdisciplinary Club, and was a member of Minority Students in Medicine.
Nicole has experience treating typically developing children and children with developmental disabilities in the areas of articulation, language, fluency, cognition, feeding, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), and pragmatics. She has worked extensively with culturally-and linguistically diverse populations in outpatient, skilled nursing, private practice and school settings. Nicole’s experience working with adults has centered around the treatment of voice/resonance, dysphagia, cognitive communication disorders, aphasia and AAC.
Over the past several years, she has had the opportunity to serve as a research assistant for Dr. Katandria Johnson and Dr. Ileana Ratiu. She has served as a poster presenter at the Texas Speech-Language Hearing Association convention and has provided training regarding working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations to clinicians in her area.
Nicole’s interests include language, cognition communication, social communication, professional issues pertaining to the field of speech language pathology and bilingualism/culturally and linguistically diverse populations. She is passionate about empowering others to advocate for themselves and their loved ones. Nicole continues to expand her training and expertise through attending local and national conferences and workshops.
In her spare time, Nicole enjoys traveling, learning Spanish, attending yoga classes, reading, exploring the Valley of the Sun, and spending time with friends and family. She takes great pride in being a speech language pathologist and working hard for her patients and their families. Nicole is honored to serve as a board secretary and coach at Dr. Love’s Healthcare.
